Happy 03:25
I never thought I’d see the day that I’d wear another smile on my face my world got so cold and lonely then you swept in and you made me happy You made me happy (yeah) You made me glad (yeah) Rearranged my world (yeah) and I ain’t mad No, I ain’t mad See I let fear I let doubt I let the pain of this world shut me out I lost all control refused to leave my home I said what's the use I saw all they wanted to do was beat me down and then use me up and damn, that’s rough but then you came along taught me a new song and showed me just how bright this world could be now there’s no turning back no turning back I said I’m not turning back Baby, I ain’t turning back I never thought I’d see the day that I’d wear another smile on my face my world got so cold and lonely then you swept in and you made me happy Said you swept in You swept in Baby, you swept in And I’m glad about it I’m glad about it Oh, I’m glad about it Baby, I’m glad I’m so glad you swept in You swept right in on You put your thing down flipped it and reversed it You swept in I’m so glad about it I’m so glad about it I’m so glad about it I’m so glad I said I don’t know where I would be if you didn’t sweep in for me I said I don’t know where I would be if you didn’t sweep in for me And that’s why I’m glad That’s why I’m so happy, baby I’m so happy Baby, yeah

As I began my day, started my hustle and bustle I forgot to say some things to you (I forgot to say) and then again after work when I got home baby, I spent so much time on the phone I was just trying to pay these bills and that's frustrating too so once again I forgot to love on you so please forgive me and hear my plea as I sing these things I should’ve said to you I love you I need you You rock my world You look so beautiful when the sun hits your face You make my day You make my day You make my day Oh listen here, buddy boy the only thing I’m concerned about is your inner joy take all the moments that you need, yeah I’ll be there and when you ease up I’ll be there to help you free up it’s nothing I tell you, ‘cause you’re something I love you I need you (I know, I know you do) You rock my world (Oh I’m so glad that I do it for you) You look so beautiful when the sun hits your face You make my day These are the things I should have said (Oh why do you worry so? I know that you know that I love you) And I hope it’s not too late (Why would you ever think that? I’ll always understand you) I hope it’s not too late, baby These are the things I should have said These are the things I should have said Oh baby, please give me one more chance I promise I’ll never forget Forget to do what? Never There’s no need to beg cuz I know you treasure what we share and you dare to grow a little further there There’s no need to beg, cuz I know you treasure what we share in your own little way and you dare to grow a little further there Oh I know you treasure what we share and you dare to grow a little further and further there These are the things I should have said

about

Sons Of The James is a new duo project from singer/songwriter, Rob Milton and producer/musician, DJ Harrison, inspired by a blend of classic Gospel music and early 2000's Soulquarians era R&B and Soul.

The B-side, "Things I Should Have Said," featuring the legendary Georgia Anne Muldrow (the literal inventor of the phrase "stay woke" on the Erykah Badu song "Master Teacher"), was recently featured on season 4 of Issa Rae's hit show 'Insecure' on HBO.

Rob Milton had this to say about the project's inception – "In 2015 I recorded the album of my dreams in Richmond, Virginia with DJ Harrison. Sad to say that the energy was similar at the time [as it is now]. I was coming home from BLM protests and writing songs about love to escape from the anger."

In support of Black Lives Matter, all label income from Bandcamp sales of this single will be matched by Fresh Selects and donated to various bail fund charities and organizations fighting to defund the police.
