Saw you on a Sunday night
Hadn’t seen that look in a while
Lately you’ve been so far away
Girl, this is something we should try
I believe, I believe – time’s on our side
I know I see something I like
I believe, I believe – I was out of my mind
I can see, I can see – you’re something I like
Please, let it be,
I was running inside – loaded desire
Please, set me free,
Give me time, let me fly – loaded desire
Please, let it be,
There’s a hunger inside – loaded desire
Off the ferry, now to the train
Don’t think that I can change your mind
Lately you’ve been calling my name
Girl, I wish that we could rewind
I can see, I can see – the light in your eyes
I know you see something you like
I believe, I believe time's on our side
I received, I received one of the signs
Please, let it be,
I was running inside – loaded desire
Please, set me free,
Give me hope, give me time – loaded desire
Please, let it be,
There’s a hunger inside – loaded desire
Like so many others, this came like a bolt out of the blue and, even though it's well before payday, I had to have this astonishing album on vinyl to prove it exists. The feel of the tunes makes me feel like the Impressions do, Curtis Mayfield, the big spaces and instinctive horns and stuff drifting in and out. Great grooves and I can see lots of ghosts nodding along to this with big smiles on their faces. At last! Anthony Cottrell
