Black Hole...
I’m on a wave of light,
Pan-astral highway
Gardens of stars ablur,
Less than a feather
But where to go?
You know
Baleen teethed whales of waste
Carve through the worn air
They harvest, then radiate
And stitch up the warm air
As if they know,
Drawn to the...
Black Hole
Rest in the fountains dried,
Hardly a breath to take
Snaked up the helix, learned
Living is passed away
We all return
into the...
Black Hole
It’s a taste that I know...
It's a taste that I know.

Multi-dimensional art-rock explorers, Aan, return to Fresh Selects with a brand new single – the first output of new music from the Portland band since 2019's beautifully eruptive 'Losing My Shadow' LP.
"Black Hole" is a gateway portal jettisoning us towards what's to come for this next phase of the band. Expanded in both scope and size to now a full six-piece ensemble, the indie scene veterans wrote & recorded their way through the near-apocalyptic feel of 2020's pandemic and orange-skyed wildfires that spread across the entire US West Coast – and for Aan frontman, Bud Wilson, came terrifyingly too close to home, surrounding his family's farm just outside of Portland.
With enough layered detail and addictive melody sprinkled within its boundless soundscape for us all to traverse through for the time being, we can still confirm reports that on the other side of this particular anomaly in space and time, just so happens to be 'Over The Mountain' – an incredible body of work that we cannot wait to share with the world in 2024.
Like so many others, this came like a bolt out of the blue and, even though it's well before payday, I had to have this astonishing album on vinyl to prove it exists. The feel of the tunes makes me feel like the Impressions do, Curtis Mayfield, the big spaces and instinctive horns and stuff drifting in and out. Great grooves and I can see lots of ghosts nodding along to this with big smiles on their faces. At last! Anthony Cottrell

Just a beautiful jazzy rap album with buttery smooth flows versed with huge talent. It's not only lovely to the ears, but the lyrics are profound and empowering about the struggles that she faces. zhangtastic
