For the inaugural edition of the FSXRS, two Fresh Selects alumni combine for the first time, as London R&B beat maestro Emmavie re-imagines "Things I Should Have Said" from Richmond, VA soul duo Sons Of The James – also featuring special guest, the one and only, Georgia Anne Muldrow.

Emmavie gives the beloved duet (as first heard by many on Issa Rae's iconic HBO show, 'Insecure') a full 360° renewal, re-building the song from the ground up with her own added backing vocals and Ennio Morricone level whistling skills, matched some of that next-level drum programming and unconventional bounce that those in the know have come to expect from Em.

Like so many others, this came like a bolt out of the blue and, even though it's well before payday, I had to have this astonishing album on vinyl to prove it exists. The feel of the tunes makes me feel like the Impressions do, Curtis Mayfield, the big spaces and instinctive horns and stuff drifting in and out. Great grooves and I can see lots of ghosts nodding along to this with big smiles on their faces. At last! Anthony Cottrell
